Love is in the air!
I could not get out of the bed this morning without a good reason, and lucky for me I had one. Last night I fell asleep with Hisako Ogita's I Love Macarons Book and I had such sweet dreams I woke up with the book still open in the bed, and a book spine indent on my face.

The flavour of the macarons is almond-vanilla. I added some almond oil to the cookie, and used my favourite vanilla buttercream recipe in the middle.
So, with the buttercream out and ready to used up, I just couldn't help myself...A couple of cupcakes never hurt anyone right?

Wedding Cake Cookies

For the wedding season this year I am making personalized wedding cookies. You can have your initials placed in the heart and have these delicious shortbread cookies packaged with a pretty ribbon to match your dress! Give them out as favours, or have them as a part of your dessert table..either way these colourful and detailed cookies are a really pretty addition to your special day!

squir⋅rels (skwur-uhlz): they sure have a lot of nuts.
I was just wondering to myself "do squirrels hibernate?" Maybe squirrels go to a giant underground cave for squirrels? There, they eat many nuts, all winter, and they play games with nuts, to pass the time. They have a lot of naps, and once in a while, they come out to check if Spring came back yet.

Banoffee. You have to make it once in your life.
This is that time.
For the last day of the decade, I thought I would treat my friends to Banoffee pie. They were looking a little pale after the cheese fondue, so I made sure that they got their recommended dosage of dairy products by topping the pie with some sweet and boozey whipped cream.
I used a shortcrust pastry as a base, par baked completely. On top of it I poured some french caramel that had mascarpone and white chocolate in it, and added some caramelized banana slices that slowly sunk in a little, very appetizing looking.
Note: I recommend caramelizing bananas and just eating those on their own...quite the treat.
Thanks Aimee for taking the photos last night. I could NOT have done it.
OOOOOOOh, and I forgot one thing.
One last time, some Christmas cookies, which ARE ALL GONE NOW. No more.
Some Swiss Spietzbebe, because Christmas is not over until its over. This is the recipe from the December Saveur magazine - a really good short dough recipe that I also used as the base for Banoffee, mostly out of laziness but it worked out. I added lemon zest and extract to it. The cookies are filled with my friend Paul's blueberry jam, and dusted with icing sugar. Yay!!!

last christmas cookie post this year, promise.
Technically though, tomorrow is next year. I better get these up and out of the way before the Christmas tree gets taken down and onto the curb.

My sister's gingerbread cookies... cute huh?
See that little Bambi cookie? That is my favourite cookie cutter, an antique that was once owned by my grandmother.

Here are some Christmas cookies. i think those pink ones were my favourite.

I only made a couple of these guys, they seemed a little too precious in a

Guitar Swiss Butter Cookies
I made these cookies one day, and then I ate them all because they were really good. I'm not sure if its because I'm Swiss, or because I love butter, or both.
I put vodka and lemon juice in the icing so it went well with the orange zest in the dough.
I also drank vodka and lemon while I was decorating them, with orangina. Is that why I FORGOT to put the guitar strings?!
